"In general, I think it can be said that most sections of the United States were first populated by failures. They are usually referred to as 'pioneers', but that euphemism doesn't dispose of the fact that they were doing very badly where they were, and pulled up stakes to see if they couldn't do better somewhere else."

Hi Ned,

Really like your blog - much more cerebral and sensible than mine. I basically write about pheasants and cake.

We have the same editor at Sceptre - I'm going to be published in April. I oscillate between extreme excitement (I'm going to be published - horray!) and extreme anxiety (no one will buy my book, they'll think it's really rubbish).

Can I link to your blog from mine? I don't think many people actually read mine, but my 5 readers (all related to me of course) are very faithful.

Hi Ned,

Sorry about the delay. Blogger hates me. Posting the link. Expect a tirade of traffic. Or my Aunt Nancy. One or the other, for sure.

Hope book 2 is going well. I'm having sweaty palm dreams.
